Description

Bone Grafting (3-Day Course)
Dates: May 31 – June 2, 2024
Venue: Clear Dental Private Practice and Education Centre
CE credits: 24 hours
Tuition: $4500 CAD

Dental implants have become one of the best treatment options to replace missing teeth. However, many dentists face a challenge with dental implants due to insufficient bone volume after ridge absorption. The success of dental implant placements depends largely on both the quality and quantity of the available bone in the recipient site to achieve esthetic and functional results. The alveolar bone may be compromised or unavailable due to many reasons including traumatic extraction, endodontic infection and periodontal disease which requires the need for additional bone grafting.

This course is intended to provide dentists with the knowledge and training to overcome bone loss problem in implant dentistry. The participants will learn how to perform guided bone regeneration, socket preservation and sinus floor elevation utilizing crestal approach. This will be done through lectures and hands-on learning. We will be discussing the fundamentals of bone grafting, material selection and surgical techniques. There will also be an in-depth discussion of treatment planning, which includes case selection, treatment sequencing and selection of surgical techniques. The course will go over step by step of bone grafting procedures and what to look for in a surgery.

On Day 3, the participants will perform surgery on their own patients. The live surgery will allow the participants to apply what they have learned in the course and have their own surgical experience.

This course is intended for the participants to become familiar with the following:

  • Fundamental of Bone Biology and Socket Healing
  • Bone Grafting: Materials & Principles
  • Suturing Techniques & Flap Design (Hands-On)
  • Socket Preservation (Lecture and Hands-on)
