GUM GRAFTING

Gum grafting addresses the issue of receding gums. Some believe that the harder they brush, the cleaner their teeth will be at the end of the process – unfortunately, aggressive brushing can often have adverse effects on the state of your oral health. The effects include gum recession and loss of the tooth’s structure.

Gum recession is a common dental problem that many patients don’t notice until it worsens, or becomes severe. Receding gums make the teeth appear to be elongated, pave the way to tooth sensitivity, and tooth decay – all of the above is a recipe for poor oral health.

If we have a patient experiencing the negative effects of gum recession, a gum graft may be necessary to combat this issue and restore the teeth and gums. A gum graft will also work to protect the teeth from further damage.

To perform a gum graft, we use a microsurgical approach. We find that the benefits of using this approach include cleaner and smaller incisions, less blood, minimal tissue handling, and a faster healing process – all of these things make for an improved patient experience and improved results.

By the end of the process, we want your teeth and gums looking and feeling healthy again, and for you to go a little easier on the brushing!
