What are Dental Veneers?
Dental Veneers are very thin porcelain shells of a tooth that are custom made for each patient. These shells are bonded to the patient’s natural teeth to mask any imperfections with color, shape or size.
Benefits of Dental Veneers
Dental veneers appear as a natural tooth that is stain-resistant. They are a much more conservative approach to changing the appearance of a tooth, here are some great ways veneers can benefit you:
Dental Veneers: How It Works
Depending on your tooth situation, our specialist may trim half a millimeter of your tooth enamel to prepare for the placement of your veneers. After that, we will take impressions of your natural teeth and send those off to have your veneers created.
Once your veneers are ready, our specialist will begin by cleaning and roughing the tooth surface to improve adhesion of your veneers. With a special cement, our specialist will then place the veneers on the natural tooth and use ultraviolet light to attach the veneer.
It is likely our specialist will schedule a follow up appointment after a few weeks to be sure everything is fitting as it should.
Are you a good candidate for Dental Veneers
Most people are a great fit for dental veneers. If you have one or more of the following, dental veneers are for you.
- Severely stained teeth
Minor or severe cosmetic imperfections
Sufficient tooth enamel
Good oral hygiene
It is important to note that people who grind or clench their teeth might not be a good candidate whereas it could cause damage to the porcelain veneer.
How to take care of Dental Veneers
Caring for your veneers is very similar to caring for your natural teeth. It is important to:
Brush and floss daily
Maintain good oral health
It is also important to note that, much like your natural teeth, your dental veneers are not indestructible and can chip and crack if not properly cared for. Here are some tips to protect your new smile:
Chew wisely
Keep fingers, pens and bones out of your mouth

I went to Dr. Park with aesthetic concerns of my front tooth. He took his time to explain my options, go thru the procedure with me in detail, and the final outcome has been more than i ever hoped for. His eye for detail and the precision from his entire team made this trip to the dentist very comfortable. Thank you for giving me peace of mind and quality care.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dental Veneers
Below are answers to questions many of our patients have asked when considering dental veneers.
If you are properly taking care of your veneers by brushing and flossing twice daily and paying regular visits to your dentist for cleanings and checkups, they should last you anywhere from five to ten years.
Your dental veneers will need routine maintenance just as your regular teeth do. It’s important to brush and floss every day. It is also important that you see your dentist for routine cleanings.
Typically the patient’s mouth will be numb during the treatment which means there will be little to no pain. Patients who have eight or more veneers placed can expect to feel some soreness in the gum and jaw after the numbing wears off, this should not last any longer than a few hours and the pain can be alleviated with most over the counter painkillers.
Unlike most other treatments, Veneers preserve the most amount of tooth structure. They can also improve your smile, gum tissue and can correct teeth colour and shape.
One disadvantage that comes with dental veneers is the cost. This procedure is not covered by most insurance companies as it is considered cosmetic, despite its ability to improve the quality of life for some patients.
It is possible that contouring the gums will improve the cosmetic outcome, this will not cause any further discomfort during the treatment. In rare cases, surgical contouring must be done if the teeth are short.
If you have stained, crooked or other noticeable imperfections on your teeth, dental veneers are right for you! They also benefit those who have difficulty eating and speaking among other daily issues.
For the most part, dental veneers will not restrict your diet. Each patient is different but it is recommended that everyone eats soft food for the first few days after you’ve received treatment. After a few weeks have passed, you are free to enjoy all your favorite foods! It is recommended that you stay away from hard and sticky foods with veneers.
